QHSE FOCUS

Our QHSE Focus

QHSE is the overriding priority at all levels ranking ahead of economic or other considerations. At Caracal, we apply 10 cardinal rules to all projects in all locations. Conforming to and sharing these principles and standards is how Caracal drives its accident-prevention policy. The safety measures are vital to prevent occupational accidents, for people to become aware of the need to develop a better sense of security, and to foster excellence in workplace safety, personal safety, operational and process safety, and a healthy environment for all.

Cardinal Rule #1

When required by the job safety analysis, I always wear my Personal Protective Equipment on site and task-specific PPE.

Cardinal Rule #2

When boarding or leaving a barge, a vessel, or a platform, I always use equipment such as personal basket, pilot ladder, boat landing, or gangway.

Cardinal Rule #3

I never walk or stand under a suspended load.

Cardinal Rule #4

I will never work or drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Cardinal Rule #5

I do not smoke outside of dedicated areas.

Cardinal Rule #6

I report any indecent, accident, near misses to my supervisor immediately.

Cardinal Rule #7

In the absence of collective protective equipment (guardrails, safety nets, etc.) I do not work at heights without a safety harness.

Cardinal Rule #8

I make sure that the power and product supply of equipment that I manipulate for maintenance, repair, or modification has been cut.

Cardinal Rule #9

I do not bypass, remove barricades, machine grading or enter a prohibited signalized area if I’m not authorized.

Cardinal Rule #10

I do not enter a confined space or excavation area without atmosphere control and protective equipment.
